Self-updating and evolving bits of data were observed on the still-fledgling network at the beginning of the 1980s. While not an immediate threat, the engineers' inability to delete them outright caused enough frustration that a solution was developed and deployed with little testing beforehand: dubbed the Yggdrasil Protocol, the program was meant to evolve alongside the anomalous data and ensure they have no interactions with the wider network. It backfired spectacularly.
Those anomalous bits of data were dubbed Digimon - portmanteau of Digital Monster - when they began to realise into the human world and wreak havoc, forcing humanity into figuring out counter-measures for the catastrophe.
It has been thirty years since Digimon first realised into the human world. Measures have been put in place to both track realisations and deal with realised Digimon - DATS was founded for those precise reasons. The situation is mostly under control, though many mysteries still surround Digimon and their relationship with humanity.
DATS
The Digital Accident Tactics Squad - abbreviated as DATS - is a governmental body dedicated to safeguarding society against dangerous Digimon. Its primary tactic involves deploying agents to defeat Digimon and turn them back into DigiEggs, which can then be safely sent back to the Digital World.

Lovable despite his mischievous nature, all Vorvomon wants in life is attention and bread. He is very affectionate towards humans (especially ones he can get food from) which is not always ideal as he has been known to approach strangers and startle them, to put it lightly. He regards Arsène as a best friend and follows him unconditionally - his attachment to Arsène borders on dependence however, Vorvomon dreads being alone even for short periods.
